The overview

01

Takalam is a digital mental well-being platform that connects users with licensed therapists and personalized mental health tools in a private, culturally relevant environment. The goal was to create a trustworthy and accessible experience that makes seeking support feel simple, safe, and approachable.

The challenge

02

Improving clarity, structure, and the overall digital experience.

Building trust around sensitive mental health services

Simplifying the journey to find the right therapist

Creating an experience that feels private, approachable, and culturally relevant

Balancing professionalism with modern design

The goal

03

Increase confidence in seeking support online

Streamline therapist discovery and booking

Make mental well-being resources easy to access

Create a calm and reassuring user experience

The approach

04

The focus was on reducing friction, building trust through thoughtful design, and guiding users toward the right support. Every touchpoint was designed to feel clear, human, and emotionally supportive while maintaining privacy & accessibility.

Starting with the right questions

05

Before jumping into design, I took a step back to understand the problem more deeply. This approach helped me ground decisions in real user needs rather than assumptions, and it started by asking questions like

How can the experience feel safe from the first interaction?

How can the design reduce anxiety and encourage engagement?

How can users quickly find the support that fits their needs?

The plan

06

Define user priorities and align on design direction through mood boards
